Sacred Sun LiFePO4 Battery Test — 105% of Declared Capacity

📋 Background

Why we test every new battery before recommending it to customers

Recommending a battery to a customer without our own testing is a risk. The LiFePO4 battery market is filled with offers featuring varying real-world characteristics, and the datasheet specifications don't always match what the client actually receives.

That is why, before adding a new battery to our assortment and recommending it for real projects — autonomous systems, backup power, solar installations — we conduct our own tests in our service center.

This time we tested the Sacred Sun SY106 16S100JC — a 51.2V / 100Ah lithium iron phosphate battery. The results turned out to be better than expected.

What was checked during the test

1Real capacity compared to the nominal one

2Voltage of individual cells (balance)

3Cell temperature under load

4Compatibility with the Victron MultiPlus-II inverter

5Correctness of data transmission via BMS

6Display of parameters in the VRM Portal

Capacity exceeded the nominal value by 5%

The actual measured capacity was 105 Ah against the declared 100 Ah. This is a good indicator of production quality: most high-quality LiFePO4 batteries fit within ±3%, and Sacred Sun showed a result above the datasheet specification.

The voltage difference between the highest and lowest cell was only 9 mV (3.341 V and 3.350 V respectively) — this is an excellent balance for a new battery without prior balancing.

🔗 Compatibility

Compatibility testing with Victron Energy and DEYE

For real projects, it is critical that the battery does not just "work," but is fully integrated with the inverter: it should transmit data via BMS, correctly display SOC, temperature, and cell voltages, and avoid blocking charging/discharging due to false alarms.

Sacred Sun LiFePO4 51.2V / 100Ah Characteristics

Electrical parameters

Nominal voltage: 51.2V (48V systems)

Nominal capacity: 100 Ah

Real capacity (test): ~105 Ah (105%)

Chemistry: LiFePO4 (LFP)

Configuration: 16S (16 cells in series)

Model: SY106 16S100JC

Advantages of LiFePO4 chemistry

LiFePO4 is the most stable and safest chemistry among lithium batteries. It is not prone to thermal runaway and retains capacity for 2000–6000 cycles.

It offers a wide operating temperature range, low self-discharge, and the ability to deep discharge up to 80% DOD without significant degradation.

❓ Q&A

What people ask about this battery

How is the 105% capacity confirmed?

The test was conducted by discharging the battery under load down to the lower voltage limit, recording the transferred energy. The measured capacity was ~105 Ah against the datasheet value of 100 Ah. This means the manufacturer did not overstate the specs — on the contrary, they provided a reserve.

Which inverters is Sacred Sun compatible with?

We tested operation with Victron Energy MultiPlus-II GX 48/5000 and DEYE. In both cases, communication via BMS works correctly: the inverter sees the SOC, temperature, and voltage, and does not block charge/discharge. Additionally, Sacred Sun supports a wide list of other manufacturers via CAN or RS485.

How many cycles does LiFePO4 last?

LiFePO4 chemistry provides from 2000 to 6000+ cycles depending on the depth of discharge and temperature conditions. With a standard 80% DOD, the lifespan usually exceeds 3000 cycles, which equates to over 8 years of service under daily use.

Our conclusion after testing

Capacity confirmed at 105% of the declared value

Excellent cell balance — difference of only 9 mV

Full compatibility with Victron Energy MultiPlus-II GX

Compatibility with DEYE confirmed

BMS correctly transmits all data to the inverter and VRM Portal

Zero charge or discharge blocks during the test

Why we test ourselves instead of relying on the datasheet

The battery market in Ukraine is actively developing, and with it, the number of offers from suppliers where real specs do not match the declared ones. Understating capacity by 10–20% is a common practice that cannot be detected without direct measurement.

Sacred Sun passed our test and showed a result exceeding its datasheet value. These are the kinds of batteries we recommend for real projects — from household backup power systems to industrial off-grid installations.
