Total-Energo LLC performs professional development of technical specifications (TS) for the construction of power supply systems on sea, river and stationary fleets: service vessels, technical boats, passenger vessels, platforms and special purpose vessels.
The technical specifications allow to form an optimal power supply structure, which takes into account increased requirements for reliability, maritime specifics of operation, autonomy, operation in conditions of moisture, vibrations and confined space.
Purpose of the technical specifications
The technical specifications fix the key parameters of the on-board power system, namely:
- configuration of power sources (DC and AC generators, batteries, shore power, PV);
- architecture of the main and backup lines;
- switching modes in emergency or planned scenarios;
- requirements for power, autonomy, safety.
What is included in the technical specifications
Classification of the vessel:
- service/technical boats, tugs, mobile platforms;
- passenger ships, catamarans, yachts, motor ships;
- river or sea class, autonomy, flag of registration;
- availability of existing power systems or complete modernization.
Onboard load:
- navigation equipment, communications, lighting, steering;
- refrigeration/pumping units, auxiliary systems;
- life support (kitchen, ventilation, lighting, alarm);
- AC / DC consumers with different voltages (12V, 24V, 48V, 230V AC, 400V AC).
Power sources:
- main generator or generator set (one or more);
- battery packs (AGM, GEL, LiFePO₄ — according to the conditions of use);
- shore power (shore connection, power conditions, frequency 50/60 Hz);
- solar panels (optional, to support the reserve).
Power and redundancy architecture:
- main and backup power bus;
- automatic power switching (ATS, inverter/bypass);
- DC-DC converters for stable voltage;
- battery charging systems from generator, engine or shoreline;
- isolated sections or priority power supply of individual circuits.
Control and monitoring systems:
- control of the remaining battery charge/discharge;
- control of generator and shore power (input voltage, frequency, failures);
- alarm signals, warning systems;
- displays, control panels or integration into MFD Marine Navico, Raymarine, Garmin, Furuno.
Environmental features:
- operation in high humidity, salt mist, vibrations;
- marine IP protection standard (IP44–IP67);
- compliance with IEC 60092, DNV, RINA, or national standards requirements;
- taking into account restrictions on weight, noise, heat release.
Documentation:
- single-line diagram with distribution of sources and loads;
- redundancy and emergency scenario map;
- equipment specification (basic level);
- description of system operation modes in the event of an accident/failure of one source.
Implementation stages
- Analysis of vessel type and energy consumption;
- Collection of technical information and power supply plans;
- Development of power supply logic taking into account redundancy;
- Formation of technical specifications and single-line diagram;
- Transfer of documentation to the customer, ready for use in design or for the manufacturer/shipyard.
Result for the customer
- A full-fledged technical document adapted to ship application;
- An optimized scheme taking into account real sailing and operating conditions;
- Basis for technical design, coordination with certification bodies or shipyard – paid additionally;
- Possibility of integration with other ship systems.
Application areas
- Sea and river boats of special purpose;
- Passenger ships, yachts, tugboats, catamarans;
- Mobile scientific or technical platforms;
- Floating workshops, service barges;
- Vessels with increased requirements for energy independence.
