How we calculate and what the parameters mean
Equivalent of full sun hours per day, kWh/m²/day. Gives an idea of the available solar energy in the region.
Efficiency coefficient of the solar plant, taking into account inverter, cable, temperature, and soiling losses, etc. Typically 75–90%.
Azimuth 180° = south. Optimal tilt for most regions is 30–35°; deviation reduces generation.
Methodology
Formula: kWh = PSH × days × power (kW) × PR × orientation factor.
Power: use DC or AC — the main thing is to be consistent in comparisons.
Orientation factor: a soft model that reduces yield upon deviating from the south and optimal angle.
PSH by months: typical climatic series for Ukrainian cities; values are averaged.
Limitations
Not included: shading, module degradation, snow/dirt, power clipping, grid limitations.
Temperature: impact is included generally through PR, without a detailed temperature profile.
Calendar: standard days in a month are used (no leap years for simplicity).
Tips
PR for preliminary assessment: 0.80–0.85 for residential solar plants, 0.75–0.88 for commercial systems.
Optimization: if orientation ≠ south — increase PR by cleaning panels and high-quality wiring.
Verification: verify the configuration with equipment data sheets before a commercial proposal.
How to Read the Result
Monthly series: helps plan consumption/storage and compare scenarios.
Annual total: a benchmark for payback and choosing an inverter/storage.
Scenarios: change tilt/azimuth/PR and compare the annual total for sensitivity.
