Riello Sentinel Dual — is a single-phase online UPS with double conversion (VFI-SS-111), which can be mounted both in a 19" rack and in a classic vertical version. Due to its high power density, flexible control, wide input voltage range and support for external battery packs, the system is actively used for server, telecommunications equipment, medical systems, automated production complexes. Diagnostics covers all critical subsystems — inverter, battery, cooling, bypass, monitoring and control.
What diagnostics include
Inspection / audit
- Visual assessment of the housing, ventilation holes, mounting (rack or tower), power terminals and communication interfaces.
- Configuration fixation: power, operating mode, number of connected battery packs, backup status.
- Checking operating conditions: ventilation, temperature, dust, compliance with manufacturer's instructions.
- Inspection for external damage, incorrect installation or signs of overheating.
Electrical tests
- Input voltage measurement: stability, frequency, presence of asymmetry or harmonics.
- Output parameter control: voltage and frequency accuracy, shape sine waves, deviations under load.
- Checking the stability of the inverter under alternating or pulsed load.
- Testing switching between modes: mains power, inverter, static bypass — fixing the reaction time.
Inverter / bypass test
- Evaluation of inverter operation: load, temperature, response to load changes, output stability.
- Static bypass functionality: correct switching, synchronization, overload response.
- Reading and analyzing logs: events, errors, protections tripping, switching history.
Battery (battery system)
- Checking the battery compartment or external battery cabinets: connection, absence of oxidation, overheating, swelling.
- Measuring the voltage of each battery or battery blocks, checking symmetry.
- Evaluation of the charging node operation: current and voltage in Float and Boost modes.
- A self-contained operation test is possible (upon agreement): backup time, inverter behavior, discharge level.
Cooling
- Check the condition of the ventilation ducts, fan speeds, their noise and stability.
- Evaluate the temperature of the inverter module, charging unit, internal environment of the case.
- Inspection of filters or grilles: dust, obstructions to the airflow.
Communications / monitoring
- Check the display and control panel: accuracy of readings, menu navigation, access to settings and logs.
- USB/RS-232/SNMP testing (if applicable): presence of connection, parameter transfer, compatibility with PowerShield³ or BMS.
- Assessment of the relevance of data in logs, firmware version, update capabilities.
Technical report
- Documented report with a detailed description of the status of the inverter, battery, bypass, cooling, communication interfaces.
- Recording of events and detected problems: error codes, temperature deviations, instability.
- Recommendations for service: battery replacement, cooling cleaning, software updates, etc.
When diagnostics are needed
- Annually — as part of routine maintenance.
- After failures or emergency switching to bypass or load loss.
- Before changing the configuration (adding batteries, integration with other equipment).
- Before the warranty expires or after long-term storage or downtime.
