Legrand MEGALINE RACK — is a modular three-phase online UPS in 19’’ format for installation in standard server cabinets. Its architecture allows for hot swapping of 10 or 15 kVA modules, with the ability to scale up to 120 kVA (N+X). These UPSs are widely used in data centers, telecommunications nodes, Internet provider infrastructure, and uninterruptible power supply systems for automated processes. Timely diagnostics of MEGALINE RACK is a prerequisite for reliable and safe operation, especially in conditions of high load density and critical services.
What diagnostics include
Inspection / audit
- Configuration analysis: number of active and standby modules, condition of chassis, batteries and monitoring boards.
- Inspection of the physical condition of the case, cabinet, power connectors and ventilation holes.
- Evaluation of operating conditions: temperature, humidity, placement in the server environment.
- Checking grounding, correct installation and connections of input and output lines.
Electrical tests
- Control of input parameters: voltage, frequency, symmetry of three phases.
- Output voltage check: waveform, accuracy, compliance with the VFI-SS-111 standard.
- Testing the system's response to load changes, switching modules on/off.
- Measurement of THDi, THDu, system efficiency, checking stability of operation.
Inverter / rectifier / bypass check
- Testing each power module: inverter, rectifier, power converter.
- Analysis of static bypass functionality, checking switching between modes.
- Reading operation logs, viewing the history of accidents, events and alarms.
- Control of phase synchronization between modular inverters and the network.
Battery (battery system)
- Inspection of battery cabinets or internal units: connection, status switching, cooling.
- Voltage control by groups, measurement of charge/discharge currents, balancing.
- Analysis of Float/Boost modes, checking for degradation signals.
- Estimation of the remaining battery life and the possibility of a discharge test (if necessary).
Cooling
- Checking the operation of the fans of each module: noise, speed, power.
- Monitoring the temperature of the power boards and the case using internal sensors.
- Inspection of the airflow system, filter contamination, cabinet location in the server room.
Communications / monitoring
- Control display test: operability, navigation, error indication.
- Checking interfaces: SNMP, RS-485, Modbus TCP/RTU, Dry Contact (if available).
- Integration with BMS/SCADA, communication status with external systems.
Technical report
- Documentation of all diagnostic results by modules, batteries, logs and events.
- Identification of potential failures, messages about overheating or degradation.
- Recommendations for replacing individual modules, batteries, ventilation elements or updating the software.
When diagnostics are required
- Annually, according to Legrand instructions for modular systems.
- After updating the configuration, adding or replacing modules.
- In case of messages about overheating, problems with synchronization or autonomy.
- Before entering standby mode or when removing it after a long downtime.
