Socomec DELPHYS XM — three-phase industrial-grade UPS, which is used for uninterrupted power supply of critical equipment in data centers, telecom, energy, industry and medical institutions. To maintain the design reliability and resource of the system, regular professional diagnostics is required with checking of electrical parameters, condition of the battery and auxiliary components.
What diagnostics include
Inspection and audit
-
Visual inspection of the housing, terminals, busbars, step and bolted connections; checking for signs of overheating, darkening, traces of corrosion and dust accumulation.
- Checking the compliance of connections with the design documentation: cable cross-sections, marking, presence and condition of grounding, correct connection of bypass circuits.
- Audit of operating conditions: temperature, humidity, dustiness, free access of air to air ducts, absence of obstacles for service access.
Electrical tests
-
Measurement of input and output voltage/frequency, checking voltage quality (symmetry, distortion, harmonics according to internal monitoring readings, if available).
- Evaluation of phase balance in three-phase circuits: voltage/current difference, load uniformity control, neutral check.
- Checking synchronization with the network, correct operation of static bypass under load and without it (according to the agreed procedure).
- Battery operation test: controlled transition simulation, output stability control, event registration in logs.
Inverter and bypass check
- Evaluation of the inverter cascade operation: stability, response to load changes, absence of abnormal fluctuations.
- Bypass switching test: response time, absence of sags and interruptions, correctness of status signaling.
- Checking current limiting parameters, presence and correctness of protective cutoffs.
Battery system (battery)
- Checking the voltage on each battery module/block, comparison with the passport limits, detection of imbalance.
- Evaluation of internal resistance (if a suitable tester is available) and indirect signs of degradation: discharge rate, temperature, behavior under load.
- Checking the service life, replacement history, charging/floating charge parameters, integrity of fuses and battery cables.
Cooling
- Checking the operation of fans, cleanliness of filters, free air channels, condition of radiators and heat exchangers.
- Checking the readings of temperature sensors, comparing with room conditions; if necessary — recommendations for improving ventilation.
Communications and monitoring
- Checking interfaces (USB, RS-232/RS-485, SNMP/Modbus, dry contacts), the performance of network agents and gateways.
- Analysis of event logs, alarms and trends; verification of the correctness of timestamps and notification parameters.
- Assessment of integration with the dispatching system (BMS/DCIM): data availability, polling stability, notification policies.
Technical report
- Official protocol with a list of performed checks, actual indicators, conclusions on the status of the nodes.
- Recommendations for eliminating detected deviations, scheduled work (cleaning, replacement of fans/batteries, parameter settings).
- If necessary — agreed repair or modernization plan, preliminary estimate and work schedule.
Module diagnostics (for modular/parallel configurations)
- Separate check of each power module/parallel unit: status, load participation, synchronization.
- Test of uniformity of current distribution between modules, N+1 redundancy control, correctness of disconnection of a faulty module.
When diagnostics are required
- Scheduled maintenance according to manufacturer's regulations or internal operating standards.
- After emergency shutdowns, frequent switching to bypass, instability of the input network.
- Fixation of reduced autonomy, frequent battery warnings, increased temperatures inside the UPS.
- Before scaling up or load redistribution, power scheme change or equipment migration.
- After a long downtime, relocation or work that could affect the connection and cooling.
