APC Symmetra LX — a modular three-phase uninterruptible power supply system of medium and high class with N+1 architecture, designed for critical data centers, server rooms and infrastructures with high requirements for power continuity. The system supports hot swapping of power and battery modules, integrates with monitoring systems via SNMP, Modbus, StruxureWare. High configuration flexibility and scalability make Symmetra LX a suitable solution for large-scale IT installations.
What diagnostics include
Inspection / audit
- Inspection of the housing and internal modules for mechanical damage, corrosion, dust and dirt.
- Verification of correct installation of power, battery and communication modules.
- Evaluation of the operating environment: temperature, humidity, ventilation, accessibility for maintenance.
- Analysis of system event logs via the management interface.
Electrical tests
- Measurement of input voltage, frequency and phase ratios.
- Checking the output voltage under various load modes (normal mode, inverter, bypass).
- Testing voltage stabilization functions (AVR), checking the correct operation of the oscillation compensation system.
- Switching between power sources (mains, battery, bypass) with measurement of response time and stability.
Module testing (inverters / bypass / charge)
- Separate test of each power module: current, voltage, temperature, state of operating parameters.
- Checking the operation of the central and backup bypasses: switching time, mechanical and electronic integrity.
- Evaluation of chargers — voltage and charge current, correct operation in battery support modes.
- Test of communication modules functioning, check of control system redundancy.
Battery modules
- Checking the condition of each battery module: voltage, internal resistance, temperature, charge-discharge cycles.
- Testing of autonomous operation time under controlled load.
- Analysis of battery replacement data, calibration parameters of autonomous operation time (Runtime Calibration).
- Checking the integrity of the battery control system (Battery Monitor Unit, Battery Breaker Unit).
Cooling
- Checking fans, temperature sensors, noise level.
- Assessment of ventilation channels, presence of dust or other obstacles to air circulation.
- Monitoring of temperature indicators inside the case and battery compartments.
Communications / monitoring
- Testing communication interfaces: LCD, SNMP, Modbus, Web interface, integration with StruxureWare systems.
- Reading and analyzing event, error and warning logs.
- Verifying the operation of the automatic emergency power off (EPO) function.
Technical report
- Preparing a detailed report describing the status of each of the system components, test results.
- Recommendations for replacing worn modules, optimizing the configuration and maintenance schedule.
- Predicting the remaining life of batteries and power modules.
When diagnostics are required
- Regularly, annually, according to the manufacturer's regulations to support warranty conditions.
- When alarm signals appear: Fault, Battery Warning, Fan Failure, Overload.
- Before updating the configuration, adding modules or increasing the load.
- After emergencies or prolonged downtime without power.
