AEG Protect D — is a modern single-phase online UPS (VFI-SS-111 topology), designed to protect critical loads in offices, banking institutions, automation systems and IT infrastructure. The series is distinguished by high quality voltage stabilization, compact dimensions, integrated LCD display and a wide range of interfaces — USB, RS-232, SNMP (optional). To maintain full functionality and prevent premature wear of components, periodic technical diagnostics of the device are recommended.
What diagnostics include
Inspection / audit
- Assessment of the external condition of the housing, display, terminals and ventilation holes.
- Checking operating conditions: temperature, humidity, air access to ventilation ducts.
- Inspection of connections to the load, power supply, battery and grounding.
Electrical tests
- Measurement of input parameters: voltage, frequency, symmetry, stability.
- Checking output voltage and frequency under different load levels.
- Assessment of the quality of the waveform (sine wave), the presence of harmonic distortion (THDu).
- Checking the response to jumps voltage, instantaneous loss of input power.
Inverter / bypass / charge
- Inverter operation control: output signal shape, load level, stability.
- Functional check of static bypass operation: switching, presence of errors.
- Analysis of charger operation: charge voltage and current, reaction to mode changes.
- Reading internal event logs, viewing alarms and notifications.
Battery (battery system)
- Inspection of battery connections, presence of traces of oxidation, damage, overheating.
- Measurement of voltage on each battery module, check for charge uniformity.
- Estimation of charge time and reaction to autonomous operation (simulation of power outage).
- Recommendations for the need to replace batteries or perform more in-depth testing (if necessary).
Cooling
- Fan operation testing: stability, noise, response to temperature increase.
- Temperature control of key components of the inverter and charging module.
- Inspection of ventilation ducts for dust, dirt or foreign objects.
Communications / monitoring
- LCD display check: accuracy of indication, status display, log reading.
- USB, RS-232, SNMP testing (if available): data transfer, parameter reading.
- Integration with AEG UPS Tools software or third-party monitoring systems — communication check.
Technical report
- Generation of a detailed technical report based on the results of diagnostics: input/output, inverter, battery.
- Recording current errors, deviations, warnings, event history.
- Assessment of the remaining battery life, cooling efficiency and general condition.
- Recommendations for service, prevention or software updates.
When diagnostics are required
- At least once a year to maintain system performance and extend system life.
- After reports of failures, temperature increases or emergency switching to bypass.
- After battery replacement or prolonged downtime.
- Before putting into permanent operation after installation or relocation.
