AEC IST8 — is a series of modern three-phase online UPS with double conversion (VFI) power supply, supporting integration with lithium battery systems (Li-ion). This solution provides high energy efficiency, compactness, reduced operating costs and precise control over power parameters. IST8 is recommended for critical IT infrastructure, banking, industry and telecommunications. A special feature is the complex interaction with the BMS (battery management system), which requires special attention during diagnostics.
What diagnostics include
Inspection / audit
- Assessment of the physical condition of the UPS: housing, interfaces, display, signal indicators.
- Checking the power, load, external lithium battery and grounding connections.
- Analysis of the installation according to the manufacturer's instructions (including the position of the ventilation channels and temperature conditions).
Electrical tests
- Measurement of input voltage and frequency for each phase, checking balance and synchronization.
- Assessment of output voltage, stability of the sinusoidal signal, frequency, THD.
- Testing for load changes, consumption spikes, loss of mains, overload.
- Control of mode switching: online, battery, bypass, emergency mode.
Inverter / bypass / charge
- Inverter testing: voltage stability, frequency compliance, thermal operating modes.
- Checking automatic and service bypass: correctness of switching logic, phase synchronization.
- Charger control: compliance of the charge profile with lithium batteries (e.g. CC/CV mode), interaction with BMS.
- Reading the system log: errors, warnings, anomalies in interaction with the battery or BMS.
Battery (lithium battery system)
- Inspection of lithium battery cabinets: marking, temperature sensors, connections, insulation.
- Evaluation of communication between UPS and BMS: data exchange, presence of errors or communication breaks.
- Analysis of battery cell voltage, charge balance, temperature indicators, current limits.
- Checking the depth of discharge and residual capacity — taking into account the specifics of Li-ion.
Cooling
- Checking fans: speed, noise, presence of vibrations.
- Measuring the temperature of power modules (inverter, rectifier, bypass) under load.
- Inspection of ventilation channels for contamination, correct air circulation and blockage.
Communications / monitoring
- Testing the display: access to UPS and battery parameters, displaying alarms and system events.
- Checking the operation of SNMP, Modbus, RS-232/485, Ethernet interfaces (depending on configuration).
- Checking the connection and data exchange with BMS: cell status, SOC, SOH, temperatures.
- Integration with monitoring software (AEC Remote Panel, SCADA, BMS platforms).
Technical report
- Full technical documentation of parameters: electrical tests, battery diagnostics, event log.
- Identification of potential risks: cell degradation, BMS interaction problems, inverter instability, etc.
- Maintenance recommendations: component replacement, firmware update, BMS configuration check.
When diagnostics are required
- At least once a year or according to the manufacturer's regulations (especially when using lithium batteries).
- After an emergency power outage, communication interruptions with the BMS or a decrease in autonomous capacity.
- After replacing the battery pack, updating the firmware or changing the power system configuration.
- When connecting a new critical load or detecting incorrect operation of interfaces.
